Adventure of a Lifetime...
Reizen door Queensland met een Apollo 4WD Adventure Camper is als een droom waar uit je nauwelijks meer ontwaakt. De vrijheid die je elke dag ervaart om elke bestemming te kiezen maar ook de uitnodigende en altijd veranderde horizons en kampeerplaatsen die elke keer weer een unieke ervaring bieden. Enige voorbereiding is echter wel noodzakelijk. Enkele van de mooiste campings zijn alleen gedurende de schoolvakanties geopend en hebben ook dan slechts enkele plaatsen beschikbaar. Een goed voorbeeld is Carnarvon National Park.
Precies aan het begin van de kloof is deze prachtige en beschaduwde kampeerplaats te vinden. Zonder alle luxe, die men feitelijk toch niet echt nodig heeft, is het puur genieten; 's nachts van de schelle geluidjes van vliegende opossums of de griel (een vogel) en bij het ochtendgloren van de kleurrijke regenboog parkieten die komen snoepen van de bloeiende eucalyptussen. Een echt paradijselijke beleving. |

Een vakantie in Queensland wordt nog rijker als men zijn natuurlijke buren wat beter leert kennen, wallaroos (een kangoeroe soort) scharrelen op de camping van Girraween National Park gewoon rond de camper, borstelstaartwallabies kijken je vriendelijk aan in Marreeba en op het toilet zit je soms samen met een reuzenboomkikker. Bedenk echter altijd dat de bush nooit je vriend kan zijn, respect en enige kennis is onontbeerlijk om van de tocht te blijven genieten. Een goed voorbeeld is de bekende 4-WD route door het Daintree National Park. In de droge periode uitstekend te doen maar in het natte seizoen alleen geschikt voor de meest ervaren chauffeur.
Dankzij Apollo (en Walkabout Australia in Den Haag) hadden mijn vrouw en ik een schitterende vakantie. Wij gaan zeker terug en kiezen dan weer voor Apollo.

4WD
Adventures...
In March we picked up an Apollo 4WD Adventure Camper from
Darwin. We then headed to Kakadu National Park with visited
the wonderful Yellow Waters. From there we traveled to Western
Australia and explored the Bungle Bungles National Park. We
really enjoyed this area, especially the limestone domes and
the nice falls with pools in a seemingly desolate landscape.
From Hallscreek we drove through the Tanami Desert to Alice
Springs. We then headed south to Adelaide and continued through
the MacDonnell Rangers and onto the east coast. We found the
Apollo staff very helpful throughout our trip.

Kangaroo
Camping...
We had a fantastic time with our campervan travelling along
the eastcoast from Brisbane to Cairns. Two weeks was too short
so we hope we can come back again! It was wonderful to camp
between the kangaroo's with babies in their pouches. We loved
our campervan and wish we could have taken it home!

Berth Style...
We (a Dutch family with 4 kids) travelled around Australia for
3 months and covered about 16,000 kilometres! The only way to
do this kind of traveling was by motorhome so after a long search
on the Internet we hired a 6 Berth Euro Star through Apollo
Motorhome Holidays. It was a very good Mercedes motorhome with
a handy interior and the 6 of us could move around
without any problem. Driving and handling was superb and thanks
to the Australien country and people at Apollo we enjoyed every
day of our holiday.

Exploring
Australia...
We hired an Apollo campervan for 4 months while travelling in
Australia. We visited New Zealand, Fiji and America during our
holiday but we liked Australia the best, also due to our little
campervan which took us everywhere in comfort. We are thinking
of returning next year or the year after to do Perth to Darwin
in a four wheel drive.
